    $5 = FIV
    $10 = TEN
    $15 = FTN
    $20 = TWY
    $30 = THY
    $50 = FTY
    $100 = HUN

I have heard that any winning amount over $500 the validation codes mean nothing.

The codes help out just in case you miss reading the numbers. Especially with the $20 scratch-offs. I almost threw away a couple of tickets cause I miss the reading the numbers. But I recognized the codes and looked again and realized I won. WOW, I guess anything over $500 is random. Only won $200 once, so maybe I’ll get lucky one day and take that trip to the Lottery Office.

A couple of years ago I hit $10,000 twice on Cash Bonaza first with every number matching at $500 each and the a month later with the last number #19 matching and having a $10,000 prize. BOTH HAD WHAT ARE LOSING CODES ON UNDER $500 GAMES!
I have seen people especially with Bingo just scratch the codes looking for an “s” that was always a winner on the Lucky 7 Bingo and other codes. Then someone else picked it out of the trush and had the cashier try it and it won $777. You also have to beware at certain places like 7-11s and such I have been handed cards that they said got some of the covering scratced off pulling it out. And the cards were out of order I got say card #29 then #27 with no one else buying any and a stupid excuse some people have lucky numbers. I talked to lottery security they went to the manager and looked at the tapes and sure enough the clerk was scatching looking in that case for an “s”.

I know this sounds weird but I love scratching a little bit at a time when I buy a twenty dollar ticket down to the point where I have just winning number but the amount of the prize still hidden. Bought a billion dollar blockbuster the other day and I’m good with codes I have a winner with a code like yours TFV now my guess is 25.00 but before I scratch it off I would like to know if ANYBODY KNOWS WHAT “TFV” stands for it could be 250.00 but Im about 95 percent sure it’s not. Thanks for your answers. Later Erock

I have had some of the codes you say are winners on the new bar bingo game and I have had the checked out at a retailer, they were not winners. The best thing to do is just have all you tickets scanned prior to trashing them.

To those who are assuming that “FYE & FTW” means you win $1,000 that is simply not true. Basically remember this: Anything over $500, the codes are usually random. Just because people have won $1,000+ and the codes were FTW or FYE etc etc, does not mean they all are. Just always check your tickets and do NOT play by the codes. Ive seen a $250K winner before and the code was ” NEW”, which code players would have tossed in the trash. If you are going to spend your hard earned $$ on tickets, at least scratch them and verify whether its a winner. Don’t ever rely on codes

    • Big Fish
      12:44 PM on July 5th, 2011

You just confirmed what I was thinking. I have removed the code for $1000. I also couldn’t agree more about NOT relying on the codes.

It’s simple….if you have a winning ticket up to $500, the code will make sense. It will in some way be an abbreviated form of the amount you won…twy for twenty, fty for fifty, hun for hundred, fhn for five hundred, etc…. IF you won more than $500, the code will not make sense. The code will also not make sense on a losing ticket. That’s why many people above have stated the importance of checking your ticket at a lottery retailer so that you can be certain. Don’t just rely on the codes. I also got a kick out of the person who claimed to win $250 on a $20 ticket..there’s no such prize level for a twenty dollar game. And I’ve hit $200 on a twenty dollar Lucky for Life that was on ticket #000. I’ve hit $500 on number 009 (Lucky for Life), and $500 on #022 (Gold Rush) and $200 on #017 (Monopoly) So the numbers are completely random, I used to buy my scratchoffs according to the number they were on, but believe me it makes no difference!!

I have won $1,000 four times now, three times on $20 Blockbuster, but most recently once on the $3 Match and Win (Boy, was I surprised to hit a $1,000 on a $3 ticket!). Anyway, all four times the code was FTW. I also won $500 on a $5 Monopoly, another shocker, since the most I’ve ever won on a $5 was $100, and that was only once, out of the many hundreds of dollars I have spent on $5 tickets. The code was FHN. I so wish that the lottery wouldn’t place random codes on winning tickets of over $500! That way when you think it’s a loser, you wouldn’t have to to go to the trouble of confirming at a retailer, because it has one of the codes of a possible $1,000 or more winner! Good Luck EVERYONE!

ive hit 250 on a flamingo bingo 2 times the code is thf/fth/fht. but anything over 500 is like a losing code such as cvw/ftw/cvf/new.those may actually be big winners so dont just scratch the letters and throw away cause u may have just threw away 600+ dollars

I won 20,000 dollars on a 20$ millionaire club florida lottery scratch off and the code was VTE and my number that matched was 5. I recently bought another one and it was a loser with no apparent matches and the code was VTE. so I agree with the statement that the codes are useless over 500$. example a million dollar winner will not say MIL
