it is fun when you win that much on a scratch off! one time on a $5 ticket i thought i won $25 but the code was for $50 and when i cashed it in sure enough i won $50. the clerk at the gas station was just as baffled as i was that they madew such a mistake. i thought it was all computer generated and error proof so now i use the little check it yourself machine just to be sure. people who throw them away based on the codes are stupid and live up to the saying that the lottery is a fine/tax for stupid people

Chris and Larry are correct. FUN = $500, FFY = $50, TWN = $20, TEN = $10. Although they are not always in that particular order so if you have a NUF, check it b4 chuck it. Unfortunately, I don’t know what the larger codes are, that’s what I was actually trying to find out. I have a RVN and a WRN on the Bingo style and just double checking before tossing.

I am not certain if this holds true in each state that has lottery so please again and I stress this, CHECK ALL TICKETS BEFORE YOU TOSS THEM OUT!

I have heard and read on other sites that NC and SC one of those states the lottery is newer. Most folks who travel or read the info on the net heard about the codes, they would scratch just the top corner of the card and if the code didn’t seem to be a winner they would toss it. From what I gather if you have a card that is issued like “Millions for Life” the code maybe MFL, or “Cherry Explosion” could be something like CEW for Cherry Explosion Winner.

Some folks even went to the extreme of stating on the internet of the card contained an “L” on any portion of the front in small print, some stated if a white line was printed near the perferation marks on the front near the top they were winners. This states actually had folks looking for the info and pitching in the trash if they didn’t see those types of things. They were NOT EVEN SCRATCHING TICKETS!

I know that you have times when you are in a hurry but please, scratch the ticket, states are changing codes, they may not be in the bar code they may be all over the play area scattered, they may not contain letters, so again and I stress this CHECK ALL TICKETS TO BE CERTAIN if is your money and I would hate for any of us to pitch a winner. I am not an expert on lottery codes, I don’t believe that anyone is. So, better to be safe than sorry. Or, if you don’t want to scratch them check for your codes, if you cant find them or understand them simply email me and I will gladly have you mail them to my house and I can check for ya! ; )
Mainly the point here is most states print 3 letter codes on the front of tickets, in most cases you have to scratch the ticket to find the code. You may see an O N E on the play area or you may see E N O or N O E either way it could indicate you won a $1 or maybe not.

Most lottery offices have the 3 letters or a code on the card but only for prizes that can be cashed at Regional Offices. If the larger prizes are won or you hit the jackpot in most states you have to claim at the lottery Headquarters.

I think this site is great but folks don’t take all the fun away! Buy em, scratch em, check em. Good luck to all!

Every code in Ohio for winners over $500 dollars are totally random. I’ve won a TPD+5,500 and the code was WVY. A 1,000 on 10 dollar ticket and it was FHN. Which comes up a lot on 10 and 20 dollar tickets. Also the store get most of my tickets at keeps the big winners, hundreds of them, and all the codes are random losing codes you would see on losing tickets. I’m sure you have seen these at your stores. ALWAYS play bingo’s and games which require you to scratch tickets off. Because of this Games like Jokers Wild, Slingo and Cashword games look great because the top prizes are thrown away and not claimed. I see Bingo games with just the code scrached off all the time on the ground!

I just won a thousand on a Diamond Dazzler ticket and the code is HWF. I won ten thousand a few years ago on a 5 dollar Extreme Green ticket and the code was random. The clerk told me that any winner of 5000 or more just gets a random code but that was about 3 years ago so things could have changed. Some lotteries are getting rid of the code system (i read the PA is stopping them) and I wish more would follow that trend. I hate seeing a code that i know is a loser before I even scratch off the whole ticket. It kind of ruins the fun.

In 2005, I won $25,000 on a two dollar Sapphire 7′s ticket. The code made no sense. I used to sell lottery, and there was a rude woman who played nothing but bingos, and most often went only by these codes. She would hand me stacks of “losers” to dispose of. I always double checked her tickets and one happy night, she gave me a $2000 “loser” winning two dollar bingo. Haha! Had she been halfway nice, I would have been completely honest. So I recommend actually scratching your tickets.completely, or at least not being mean to your friendly lottery retailer. ;)
